Clinical Faculty
"Providing dedicated coordination and supervision of pre-calculus mathematics courses"
Clinical faculty are an exciting new addition to the department under the SUMS program. Clinical faculty are non tenure-track members of the department faculty who will provide dedicated coordination and supervision of pre-calculus mathematics.
The clinical faculty are experienced master teachers who have excellent command of subject matter and a positive, caring attitude toward student learning and success, making them the centerpiece of our plans for innovative, caring, and dedicated instruction in pre-calculus mathematics courses.
Plans call for five clinical faculty to be part of the SUMS program:
MLSC Director: Primary responsibility for the administration of the Mathematics Learning Success Center (MLSC) and for designing, monitoring, and evaluating the programs and services of the MLSC.
MATH 1513, College Algebra, Coordinator: Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of College Algebra, including supervision of all lecturers and teaching assistants and assisting the MLSC Director in the training of College Algebra tutors for the MLSC.
MATH 2103, Business Calculus, Coordinator: Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of Business Calculus, including supervision of all lecturers and teaching assistants and assisting the MLSC Director in the training of Business Calculus tutors for the MLSC.
MATH 1613, Trigonometry, and MATH 1715, Pre-calculus, Coordinator: Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of all sections of Math 1613, Trigonometry, and MATH 1715, Pre-calculus, including supervision of all lecturers and teaching assistants in Trigonometry and teaching assistants in the Pre-calculus recitations and assisting the MLSC Director in the training of Trigonometry and Pre-calculus tutors for the MLSC.
MATH 1483, Functions, Coordinator and Advisor: Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of all sections of MATH 1483, Functions, including supervision of all lecturers and teaching assistants and assisting the MLSC Director in the training of MATH 1483 tutors for the MLSC. In addition, this Clinical Instructor will serve as the primary student advisor in the Department and have responsibility to enforce placement and prerequisite requirements for enrollment in
mathematics classes.
